Why a paper UTXO list still matters after you buy a hardware signer
A signing device shows balances. It does not replace a durable offline ledger of how each output arrived and why it still exists.
Hardware signers excel at authorizing spends. They are weaker as long-term narrative tools. Years later, when you wonder whether a small leftover output is change from a 2019 purchase or a forgotten gift address, the device screen rarely tells the story.
An offline UTXO ledger closes that gap. Each line carries amount, address or outpoint reference you choose, approximate receipt date, and a short note you wrote while the context was fresh. Paper survives device upgrades. Ink survives firmware that no longer displays an old label the way you remember.
