Extended note: rebuilding after a device migration
A long-time holder arrived with a clean new signing device and a cardboard folder of receipts from 2018–2022. The device showed fewer UTXOs than the folder implied. Over two afternoons we inventoried every address still in use, marked spent outputs from the old notes, and produced a single master ledger with a “unverified historical” section for amounts we could not confirm without on-chain lookup under the client’s control.
The unverified section still exists by design. Completeness without honesty would have been a worse outcome. The client keeps both the master pages and the old folder, cross-referenced by session date.
Extended note: quiet quarterly care
A couple who share cold storage commissioned quarterly registry visits rather than a full rebuild each time. Each visit lasts about ninety minutes: new receives labeled, retired addresses struck through, and a photocopy sealed for their executor envelope. After three visits the table time dropped because the register itself stayed tidy.
